The club was started by a small group of friends in early 2014. The founding members, all keen cyclists, decided to share their passion with the wider community. Rides are not restricted to the immediate environs of Woodhall Spa and have already included trips to view the Tours of France and Britain, a Peak Tour and a York – Bridlington – Woodhall – Skegness 3 day ride. The club and website are continuing to develop with developing plans for 2023.
The club is based in the delightful village of Woodhall Spa, on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, giving us a choice of many different types of rides. A six mile ride to Horncastle takes us to the edge of the Wolds where many 15% climbs can be encountered; there are also great choices of flat routes plus several cycle tracks around the area.
We welcome all riders be it novice or experienced but you will need to be reasonably fit and capable of riding 15 miles which would enable you to manage a Tuesday or Saturday leisure ride of 20 or 25 miles – pace dictated by whoever turns up. Thursday and Sunday rides are usually longer than 35 miles and may include one or more steepish hills, so you will need to be pretty fit. We normally stop for a coffee on Thursday and Sunday rides and occasionally on Tuesday and Saturdays. CAFE STOPS ARE NOT ROUTINELY MADE BUT OFTEN ARE. If you have any doubts about your fitness please consult your doctor and try the Tuesday or Saturday ride first! If you are under 18 your parent/guardian must also participate in the ride. Our rides are listed in the Ride Diary
